When I started working with FFmp3 I had to decide a few things. First of all as many of you (including myself) are not Actionscript or haXe experts I needed to find a way to make a skin that almost anyone could alter it with an image editor. So I decided to strip FFmp3 from most of its graphics leaving the basics and then create an image as a background giving the impression that this is one flash file. I had to leave a couple of things in a steady way so I have made four versions of FFmp3 to include in Shout Stream.

Tiny FFmp3
Its what its name says. A tiny colorful version to use in really narrow sidebars and/or in posts. It can also be used in other sites as it has no image background, just a tiny FFmp3 flash player. I use it in Radio Casbah blog in blogspot. You cannot alter it unless you play with haXe and recompile it. You can see it in action here and in Radio Casbah blog. Sources available on request.

Small FFmp3
If your side bar has at least 140 pixels width you can use this version. It is also small and comes with a PNG image as a background. All you need is a program that can edit PSD files, download it and change anything you want. Save as PNG with the same name and reload your page! You can see it in action here.

Medium FFmp3
If your side bar has at least 180 pixels width you can use this version (I do!). It is a medium size player and also comes with a PNG image as a background. Again all you need is a program that can edit PSD files, download it and change anything you want. Save as PNG with the same name and reupload! Demo is here and i m also using it at my sidebar.

Long FFmp3
This is the long version. I use it for the popup windows and for the player in a static page in Shout Stream. But if your side bar has at least 240 pixels width you can use it there too. It is a long size player and also comes with a PNG image as a background. Again all you need is a program that can edit PSD files, download it and change anything you want. Save as PNG with the same name and reupload! Demo is here.

The first Photoshop tip.
Get the source PSD you want and edit it. First thing you can easily make is to replace the Shout Stream logo. It’s just a piece of cake. Choose a font and put your name on it, save as PNG (with the same name that Shout Stream uses) and replace the original background image with the same name! The same way you can change colors and graphics on this PSD.

More customization?
If the size is too narrow or too big or you want a higher or a shorter player and that means code must be changed and recompiled so the buttons will match the PNG, I will gladly help you compile it but remember that time is my eternal enemy. First drop me a comment or use the forums, next thing is show me your shine and new PNG you made and I ll recompile the sources (if you can’t) and make a new SWF file for you. Faster way is you get the haXe source files and compile them by yourself.

Custom FFmp3
As its name says, custom is something unique so i have no idea what you are up to so no PSD files for download. Get the PSD above and try to make something unique also changing size to match your website. After that you need to compile the source code. Knock the door leaving a comment and i can give you my own source hx files as a base and build your own FFmp3 player. After creating the new SWF file along with the new PNG file name them customffmp3.swf and customffmp3.png and upload them. Change the configuration choosing custom player and don’t forget to declare the new size! Then come here again and show off!
